About the Process

With the following process Pam Lovelace creates Lovelace Originals with the look and feel of real bronze.

She begins by overlaying polymer clay onto wire and bulking it out to achieve the desired look.

The scenes are then placed onto a base made from either recycled cedar laminated, routed, stained, and finished with clear lacquer, Or, local recycled stone.

Natural elements to enhance the scene are added and fine details such as fur, facial features and water complete the sculpting.

The piece is then baked to a hard ceramic finish and brushed with crushed bronze and an acid solution giving them beautiful patina effects and highlights. Finally, a light clear coat may be added to preserve the patina.
